National Impaired Driving Crackdown Campaign

From August 19 – September 5,Texas and local law enforcement agencies will be saturating Lubbock streets and highways for a national crackdown on impaired driving throughout the Labor Day holiday.

- The results of an alcohol-impaired driving arrest can be devastating to both your personal and professional life.

- An arrest can cost a drunk driver jail time, fines, use of an ignition interlock, and loss of driver’s license, plus higher insurance rates, work issues, and much personal embarrassment. That is, if they’re lucky and they aren’t killed — or kill.

- Traditionally, the Labor Day holiday can be a dangerous time on the roadways.

- In 2009, 360 people were killed in traffic crashes over the Labor Day weekend alone, and 38 percent of those crashes involved a driver or motorcycle rider with a BAC of .08 or higher.

- Don’t be next year’s statistic! Be safe, and look out for your friends and family, too. Volunteer to be a designated driver. Or if you will be drinking alcohol, plan ahead and make sure driving is not an option. Also, wear your seat belt. It’s always your best defense.

- No matter what you drive, drive sober.

- And if you don’t, law enforcement will be on the lookout to help remind you.

- DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER.
